The Universe

Darkness all around indeed,
Fearsome; yet so Wondrous.
Full of life and life forby,
The mists of what and why.

Who would seek and dare behold,
The secrets it obscures?
Who would embrace uncertainty;
Demise or even Glory?

Pale ghosts of yesterday,
tomorrow and today,
Starving the infinite abyss!
Who could, I wonder, who?

Tomorrow might be the day — Oh day!
What day, to come indeed!
The vastness of the universe,
About a tiny shade.
